Vineyards
Our family-owned vineyards are the very heart of Toad Hall Cellars. The Pinot Noir is produced from our Lavender Hill Vineyard, located in the Carneros Appellation of the Napa Valley. The Bordeaux varietals for Bodacious and So Rare, our Cabernet Sauvignon, come from the highly acclaimed Rutherford Bench appellation, Windfall Vineyard. Each one of these growing areas, both located within Napa Valley, experience different growing conditions and soil compositions and imparts excellent quality into the grapes.
Lavender Hill Vineyard
Our Lavender Hill Vineyard is located at the end of Bayview Road in the Carneros District of the Napa Valley. The vines are planted on a lush hill knoll, part of an alluvial fan, and produce concentrated grape clusters. The Carneros District, because of its proximity to the San Pable Bay, receives a great deal of fog and almost constant breezes. This is an ideal place to grow Chardonnay.
Komes Ranch Vineyard
The Komes Ranch Vineyard is located in the heart of Napa Valley - right in the prime growing appellation of Rutherford. Planted in 1992, this 5 acre parcel includes 2 acres of Petit Verdot and 3 acres of Cabernet Franc. Located on a nice rolling hill facing east, it gets early afternoon sun and the cool breezes in the evening, perfect growing conditions for the two Meritage varietals.
Windfall Vineyard
Our Windfall Vineyard is located in the Rutherford Appellation of the Napa Valley on Bella Oaks Lane. Its soils are rocky bale loam and seem remarkably well suited to the production of world class Bordeaux varietals. The grapes from this vineyard are an outstanding source for our Bodacious blends.
